Catholic Herald

London based Catholic publication, publishing online both sides of the Atlantic. Catholic Herald was first introduced in 1888 as a broadsheet newspaper. Considered the gold standard of Catholic news, analysis, and culture writing.

The Challenge

Website redesign and development. Branding continuity between print and online offerings. The creation of a modern long-term solution for the the client’s ongoing digital future.

The Solution

Strong focus on design-led development. Subscription management through a metered paywall. News stories and articles take centre stage, without distracting elements vying for attention.

Catholic Herald publishes news for a worldwide audience on both sides of the Atlantic. As part of their focus of increasing subscription revenue, we integrated Standfirst Paywall — our metered paywall and datawall solution. Our software enables the client to set custom rules for metered access. Readers will have the choice to carry on reading by clicking on a paid subscription. This monetises valuable content for the publisher.

Web Design

A strong design vision was developed with the client in keeping with the printed version of the magazine. The solution was led with strong typography and considered whitespace with an emphasis on key calls to action. Our combined aim was to ensure users weren't distracted from the central reading experience.
