The day started with a training session with a Go Ape instructor on the training ropes. Once we were confident we had mastered the safety equipment, we set off on the ‘Tree Top Adventure’, spending the morning clambering and swinging through the trees.
We all managed to successfully complete the Go Ape course and all enjoyed the experience – although admittedly some more than others! I must admit I was terrified navigating the first ‘tarzan swing’, which involves stepping off a platform and swinging across to land into a cargo net. However, I was proud that I completed some much scarier obstacles later on down the course, including some pretty impressive zip lines!
A tasty picnic lunch was provided by the Go Ape team, along with coffees and pastries. We whiled away our lunch hour with a game or two of connect 4 and a relaxed chat in our outdoor shelter.
After lunch came our second adventure; exploring Delamere Forest on segways! It was particularly lovely to be there at this time of year, as the trees are looking splendid in their Autumn colours. The wet ground prevented us from going too fast, which was a bit of a disappointment for Andrew and Ant!
We finished with a drink, as we compared our favourite moments of the day. Needless to say, I was slightly achy over the next couple of days, but it was well worth it.
Pictures of the obstacle course were kindly taken by the GoApe team.
