Role Overview
The Reporter will be responsible for researching, writing, and delivering high-quality content that engages our audience and maintains Design Week’s reputation for excellence. This role involves working closely with the editorial team, contributing ideas for stories, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting on industry news and trends. A genuine passion for design is essential to thrive in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Research and write compelling news posts, features, interviews, and other content related to the design industry.
- Identify and research stories through various contacts, press releases, and media sources.
- Produce high-quality articles that meet editorial standards and align with Design Week’s style and tone.
- Conduct interviews with industry professionals, designers, and other key figures.
- Support the creation of digital content, including image editing and sourcing.
- Keep on top of press releases and other announcements.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Editor and the editorial team to develop and pitch story ideas.
- Collaborate with contributors, photographers, and other creative professionals to produce engaging multimedia content.
- Attend editorial meetings and contribute to the planning of the editorial calendar.
- Assist the Editor as needed to ensure the smooth running of the publication and support at events, if required.
Audience Engagement
- Engage with Design Week’s audience through social media, comments, and other interactive platforms.
- Monitor audience feedback and analytics to understand reader preferences and improve content offerings.
- Represent Design Week at industry events, conferences, and other networking opportunities.
- Enhance Design Week’s visibility and reputation within the broader industry.
Innovation and Adaptability
- Stay informed about the latest developments and trends in the design industry.
- Embrace new technologies and platforms to enhance the reader experience and expand Design Week’s reach.
- Adapt to the evolving media landscape and contribute to the continuous improvement of our content strategy.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Reporter or Journalist, preferably within the design industry.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
- A genuine passion for design and a keen interest in industry trends and developments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with digital content management systems and social media platforms.
- A proactive and innovative mindset, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- A track record of consistently meeting deadlines.
- A team player who can collaborate with diverse individuals and groups both within and outside the organisation.

Location
This is a hybrid remote role, with occasional travel to our offices. We are located in central Liverpool in the Knowledge Quarter, which means we can take advantage of the great facilities on offer in the area. We’re just a 20 minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street train station and well connected to the local and wider road network.
